Every year, dedicated volunteers take part in one of the largest coordinated give-back efforts in our county; the Community Pride Highway Cleanup, presented by Vail Resorts EpicPromise. Focused on clearing trash from our roadways, which are very close in proximity to sensitive waterways and riparian areas, these teams work hard to keep our ecosystems cleared of debris.

From its inception in the early 2000’s, in which nearly 50 tons of trash had accumulated and was removed, great strides have been made to reduce littering, and now an average of 10-15 tons of debris is removed annually.

Volunteers consist of school groups, corporate teams, local residents and visitors alike, and we encourage anyone who is interested to join in the fun! Please call Eagle River Watershed Council at (970) 827-5406 or email cleanup@erwc.org to confirm your segment, sign up for a new one or join an existing team. Pre-registration is required, as teams are assigned specific roadway sections, and planning is required to ensure safety and event regulations are observed. Those that cannot attend, but want to support the event should email development@erwc.org to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.
