Project Description:
Eagle River Watershed Council and Eagle County Open Space are seeking volunteers to help enhance riparian habitat by employing processed based restoration through building low-tech structures along Brush Creek on the Brush Creek Valley Ranch & Open Space property in Eagle, CO. The goal of the project is to restore stream complexity and prevent future degradation.
This project will take place Saturday Oct 1 & Sunday Oct 2 from 9am – 3pm. Lunch will be provided both days.
Volunteers should expect to get wet, as work will take place in the creek, and the work will be fairly arduous (moving heavy objects like logs, working in the sun with minimal shade, working on unstable footing).
What to bring:
Sturdy closed toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops)
Waders -optional but nice have
Gloves – there will be gloves provided as well, but if you have ones you like feel free to bring them
Long sleeves & long pants
Sun Protection – optional but recommended, sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses
Warm Layer – bring layers to be prepared for changing weather conditions
Water – there will be a water cooler to refill bottles
Snacks – Lunch will be provided but bring your favorite snacks
A good attitude & willingness to work hard!
