Current threats to river health, including population growth and climate change, challenge us to face the reality of a dwindling water supply, compromised water quality, and the loss of plants and animals that make rivers their home. Here at Eagle River Coalition, education is vital to empower the community from young to old to take ownership of the Eagle and Upper Colorado River Watersheds and protect the watershed from threats. By hosting hands-on learning experiences, offering email education platforms, ways to engage on social media and online resources we make sure that the community can explore the watersheds through whatever avenue fits their lifestyle best.

Watershed Immersions
Watershed Immersions are offered to the community to engage with our local watershed. Opportunities include tours, community science days and presentations. To stay up to date on these opportunities please visit our events page!

We offer a few ways to stay engaged with the Eagle River Coalition via email!
Throughout the year we send out monthly E-newsletters. In these e-newsletters you can expect to get updated on any watershed news happening within Eagle River Watershed, all of our upcoming events and news about water in the west. This is also where we announce all of our events FIRST, so you can get a chance to register before anyone else.
Once runoff starts we offer weekly River Reports. In these emails, you will learn more about the state of streamflows in Eagle County over the summer compared to the average.
Once the warm temperatures arrive, we send out daily temperature alerts. As air temperatures rise and streamflows decline, keeping an eye out for high river temperatures is extremely important for the health of our watershed!

Turf grass is the largest irrigated crop in the United States
Each year, the amount of water used in America to irritate grass could fill both Lake Powell and Lake Mead
Roughly 80% of outdoor water consumption is lost to runoff, soil absorption and evaporation
The Beyond Lawn program is a shared initiative with Eagle River Coalition and the Eagle County Conservation District. It supports landowners and HOAs by helping reduce landscaping water use to reduce the impact on our natural water resources and to save property owners money as the cost of providing water service increases.
Wild & Scenic Film Festival
In April of every year, we host the Wild & Scenic Film Festival as a fundraiser for education throughout the year! The night is filled with engaging conversations, refreshments, the Peak Flow Prediction Contest, and amazing films focusing on the importance of water.

Eagle River Water Festival
During the fall, we host the Eagle River Water Festival for all 5th Graders in the County! During this day students have the opportunity to learn about water from local professionals like water engineers, raft and fly fishing guides and sustainability experts. Topics include how to fly fish, why soil saves our watershed, how to tie knots, the importance of macroinvertebrates and MORE!
