The Eagle River Watershed Council is proud to invite WaterWise Wednesday fans to a meeting about the Pine Beetle epidemic at Donovan Pavilion in Vail on Wednesday 10/25 from 5:00 – 7:00pm.
This month we encourage you to join the Town of Vail, Eagle County, and the Forest Service tomorrow night in order to better understand what is being done about the growing Bark Beetle epidemic. We’ll learn how the beetles affect forest health and what the Town of Vail, Eagle County, and the Forest Service are doing about the problem. There is growing recognition from all parts of our community that the red dead trees pose more than just an aesthetic problem. From the threat of catastrophic wildfire to future water quality issues, we all have to do our part to understand what this natural cycle means for the future. For anyone who has taken a drive up in Grand County—you’ve seen whole mountains of dead trees. We remember the pictures and stories from the Hayman Fire and how the streams were choked with charred run-off… we’ll learn what folks are doing to use that knowledge to protect our community’s human and natural resources.
Thanks to Town of Vail, Eagle County, and the US Forest Service for hosting this meeting in a strong effort to keep us all informed on the Pine Beetle epidemic.
